In March 2011, the next part of my adventure takes me to Bhubaneswar, India, where I will be working as a volunteer.
My role is Communications Advisor for Jeevan Rekha Parishad, otherwise known as Lifeline Council. My primary objective is to deepen the engagement of the Rights To Information Act (RTI) in the state of Orissa and to build capacity of civil society to take on the initiative of the RTI clinics (which are basically resource centres) to the grass roots level.
Orissa state is one of the poorest in India and on most development indices, it ranks below many sub-Saharan countries in Africa. I hope to write posts capturing both the joy and injustice of life in this part of the world.
